| Description | These three decorated white oak baskets were made by Emma Squirrel Taylor (1920-2002), a master Cherokee basket weaver. Taylor was from the Birdtown community of Cherokee, North Carolina and specialized in white oak baskets. This trio of baskets was being assembled and photographed for a 1975 exhibition held at Qualla Arts & Crafts Mutual in Cherokee, North Carolina. This photograph, taken by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board, is pictured as the cover of the exhibition brochure, "Basketry by Emma Taylor". |
