first
woodcarvers
at the
John
C.
Campbell
Folk
School
participating
in the
cooperative
that
later
came
to be
known
as the
Brasstown
Carvers.
Their
woodcarving
supplemented
farm
income
and
made
it
possible
for them to
purchase
a
house
,
often
referred
to as
"the
house
that
carving
built."
