DescriptionThis photograph of Louise L. Pitman dyeing natural fibers was taken by Doris Ulmann in 1933 or 1934 at the John C. Campbell Folk School. Pitman came to the Folk School as an instructor in 1928 and later became Director of Handicrafts. Pitman was a specialist in natural dyes and dyeing.
