| Description | This small plate or saucer was made by W.B. Stephen of Pisgah Forest Pottery in 1941. It features a rose or peach glaze with two small patches of turquoise glaze. The bottom of the plate is stamped "PISGAH FOREST 1941" with a cameo of a potter. Stephen made a new marking plate every year from 1927-1954, so that the gradual development of Pisgah Forest Pottery can be charted over time. Walter Benjamin Stephen (1876-1961), also known as W.B. Stephen, founded Pisgah Forest Pottery around 1926 in Arden, North Carolina Stephen's pottery was known for its unusual shapes and unique glazes. |
