DescriptionThis group photograph by Bayard Wootten was taken on the steps of the original Ridgeway Hall, a building that during the school year served as a classroom and dormitory for the Appalachian School near Penland, North Carolina. During the summers of 1928-34 the porch of Ridgeway Hall served as a classroom for the summer weaving institute hosted by what would become Penland School of Handicrafts (now Penland School of Crafts). Pictured are students, instructors, staff and visitors.
