"Everett copper mine"
Unknown
photograph
The Album caption reads simply "The Everett Copper Mine." The text on the reverse of the picture elaborates, "The Everett copper mine. My cabin is just above it. Hampton lives in upper (1 1/2 story) house, alongside boiler house. Everything else unoccupied." This picture appeared in "Our Southern Highlanders" (1922 revised ed., p. 24) as "The Old Copper Mine." A different picture had previously appeared in "Our Southern Highlanders" (1921, p. 72) and in Kephart's series "The Southern Highlander" (part II, "The Back of Beyond," "Outing Magazine," January 1913, p. 400) as "The old copper mine." This photograph is on Album page 19 with the heading "Great Smoky Mts."

"(L. to R.--) F.B. Laney, &c." This photograph is almost identical to the one on the top of Album page 44, except that the person on the left is different (Laney instead of Taylor). In addition to Laney, other people in the picture are, from left to right, Molly Davis, Mrs. Barnett, Bob Barnett, and Will Calhoun. The photograph was taken at the foreman's house of the abandoned Everett copper mine.
