Description	The women in the photograph are "warping the chain" a weaving term for measuring out the threads to be used as the warp on the loom. The fiber is on spools arranged on a long rack on the right of the photograph. The woman to the left of the warping board is moving the threads back and forth across the face of the board. The three figures are unidentified. This photograph was probably taken in the late 1890s to early 1900s in Madison County, N.C. and was used in Frances Goodrich's 1931 book, "Mountain Homespun."
