Description
This
duck
was
carved
from
cherry
wood
by
Irma
and
James
“Red”
Bradley
,
members
of the
Soco
community
and
Eastern
Band
of
Cherokee
Indians
.
Both
are
carvers
, with
James
using
a
bandsaw
to
cut
out
a
piece
of
wood
and
Irma
finishing
off
the
pieces
with
fine
sandpaper
. Their
work
was
included
in the
2009
exhibition
“Cherokee
Carvers
:
Tradition
Renewed”
at the
Asheville
Art
Museum
.
