Description	It is not known who made this tray basket in the permanent collection of Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual. The tray was a common basket form among the Cherokee. Trays were traditionally used for gaming or to serve food. In this tray, the honeysuckle was woven over wide white oak splints. The rim appears to be honeysuckle wrapped with white oak as well. The honeysuckle appears to be dyed with bloodroot to yield a pale orange bands that run up the sides of the basket. Bloodroot, used by Cherokee basket weavers to make dye, is a plant native to the region. The date of this basket is unknown.
