Description	This unsigned photograph of Oscar Cantrell was taken by Doris Ulmann during her trip to the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C around 1933 or 1934. Cantrell is shown heating metal in the coals and has a hammer ready to go to work on the anvil. Cantrell was one of the first students at the Folk School, became the resident blacksmith about 1928-1929 and also fixed tools and machinery. Cantrell stayed involved with the school until his death in the early 1990's.
