Hall
and his
wife
carving
wood
on the
porch
of their
home
.
John
Hall
was a
member
of the
woodcarving
cooperative
founded
at the
John
C
.
Campbell
Folk
School
which
later
became
known
as the
Brasstown
Carvers
.
Hall
was
most
known
for what he
called
his "
mad
mules.
"
John
Hall
also
carved
the
figures
from the
nativity
scenes
known
as "
crèches
" with
wise
men
as a
specialty
. The
Hall
family
is
legendary
for the
quality
of their
woodcarvings
.
