Description	This three-page handout on dyeing with natural materials was distributed to students during the 1933 Weaving Institute, August 14-25. The handout contains recipes for dyeing with Madder, Indigo, Hickory and Walnut barks, Cochineal, Sumac, Walnut hulls, Peach leaves, Mountain Laurel, Elderberry, and Swamp Willow bark. Credit is given to Clementine Douglas, Mrs. Connelly [Emma Conley], and [Mrs.] Matheny for concocting several of the recipes. The handout was among the papers of Isadora Williams (1884-1976), a student at Penland during the 1930s and 1940s. The recipe for Indigo seems to be stained with a bright blue sample from that particular dye pot.
