Description	This brochure, published through the Craft Department of the John C. Campbell Folk School, discusses the prevalence of carving in the area, especially as a means of supplementing a farm income. Women carvers have become more popular during this time and they emphasize that they carve for the joy of it, as well as for the added economic benefit. The brochure gives the history of the woodcarving cooperative that started at the school in the early 1930s and later became known as the Brasstown Carvers. Several editions of this brochure were published. This particular copy features woodcarver Jack Hall on the cover.
